so shall the truth speak its piece... another well-written, honest article on what we can (if not should) be focusing on that we are not--and for that failure will lead us away from our goals happy reading!
i think this article misses the point. most glaring is the fact that Wright is not preaching because someone asked him to or from a pulpit--that is why the first comments were so easily overlookable--he was preaching. right now he is going on a press junket expressing his opinions (the most 'objectionable' of which have no basis in the Bible) which he knows is only provided to him because of what it can do to Obama. Most Black people who are critical of him are not even critical of his message but of him allowing himself to be used as a media puppet and giving the media the fuel to divide and conquer. He knew a year ago that his more revolutionary side might mean Obama had to separate from him--he said it himself in a newspaper article. This is like a self-fulfilling prophecy. 2) Obama doesn't have to agree with everything he says in order for Wright to be his spiritual advisor--for the author to accuse him of sacrificing his faith is an unfair generalization. Faith has nothing to do with whether the government is capable of creating AIDS for black population control. 3) the parallel to MLK is tenuous at best--especially when the author compares the timing of MLK's critique of Vietnam to Johnson's presidency. MLK had no more effect on Johnson's presidency than any other presidential candidate at the time--the same can not be said of Wright. It is a sad situation indeed. . .but I just don't think this article hits the issue.
